I’ve just spent the last two days creating a webpage for my co-op. I hate tables and I seriously could create a table in my sleep now.

And it doesn’t help I have other things to do & I’m still not done with the friggin’ page.

Oy.

When I first got interested in web design, back in the days of a swift 36.6k modem & AOL dialup, I needed a resource to help me figure it all out. It was back in those days when those who didn’t know what was going on created images with MSPaint, which at the time only supported .BMP files. DOCTYPE? HAH, you should be glad we found out what a <p> tag was for! (And that you needed a </p> tag too!)

Try as I might, I wasn’t getting the hang of it. That’s when I found Webmonkey .

Webmonkey was perfect. I loved the snarky comments and the great design tips. Webmonkey was there when I need to learn frames, then told me why I should get rid of them, explained CSS, and even got me started with PHP.

I’m going to miss such a cool resource, and I feel sorry for everyone who’s trying to learn HTML & Design now without it.

I guess it’s going to be just another one of those Ghost Sites.

Well, it looks like Microsoft Frontpage 2003 is being hawked on websites right and left. They’re so proud that they’ve cleaned up the code and made it closer to actual HTML standards.

Except they don’t actually use clean HTML in their ads. (via Kottke)

Fluffy found another one. The <b> tag is no longer considered appropriate in XHTML, since bold means nothing to a text reader. Use <strong> instead.
